A Day for the Robins

Image
All of these birds are different birds of the same kind (obviously, right?) Anyway, can you tell a difference in each robins' face? This one is actually very calming to me.  The robin is centered with a bunch of branches here.  Since I've mostly been at home and now take my pictures at home, it's nice  to see a sort of woodsy image, don't you think? This one is regal and bold looking.  It looks as if it's marking it's territory.  "I'm the owner of this tree.  It seems to call out.  "Look at me.  I'm the best." Macro-Snowflake

Image
I took this image of a snowflake a couple of days ago. It's my first macro shot.  Not too bad for my first try.  Right?  It was such a beautiful snowflake that it reminded me of a diamond ring.        This post may contain a link to my etsy shop where I may earn a profit through this link.   https://www.etsy.com/listing/929852700/a-beautiful-snowflake?ref=shop_home_active_1

A Snowy Terrain

Image
The snowy terrain was beautiful on Sunday, Jan 4.  I got some scenic pictures here.   Do enjoy looking at the photos. I heard some children singing Walking in a Winter Wonderland.   I agreed with them.  It truly was that. Looks like a Starling in this photo.   This picture does not do the atmosphere justice.  You truly had to be there to get the right glimpse of it. It lasted a weekend.  Basically here today and gone tomorrow. I hope we will see more soft fluffy snow like before winter is over.  I will take that over an ice storm any day.  Southwest Missouri.  If you're interested in purchasing photos for use of printing, or digital wall paper.  Please note, this is my etsy shop here.  Since I will be blogging about photos, I will be sharing the place to buy my photos.  Purchases will inspire more blogging and more sharing of photos you are free to look at.   Also, please do not use the images show...

Beautiful Cardinals

Image
Beautiful Cardinals                       Many different types of birds are gracing my yard these days.  I saw several at my window today.   Here are some pictures of my cardinals. I took this one today, 1/6/21 Females aren't as red as male cardinals, but they are still just as beautiful. Take a picture of one and study them individually.  You will be surprised how unique each individual one is. This was taken in Jan, '21 Males are lovely to photograph of course because of their red color.  Did you know that what they eat  actually effects their color?  The redder the better, too. Peek a boo, I see you. This bright red stands out with snow in the background. The white snow just makes that red pop out. . This female is caught with birdseed in her mouth.  I grew bird seed in 2020.  I think I will always have homegrown bird seed.  I have it around the smoke tree that this bird is on....

Two Beautiful Birds

Image
Two Beautiful Birds I had a lot of lovely Cardinals feeding today. I have homegrown birdseed. It sticks out on my windowsill. Here's my best cardinal shot today. Isn't he handsome? The light shines just right on his chest. Look at that glow. I have a new place to take pictures in the pear tree. I remember thinking of robins as a sign of spring, but they are here year round in SW Missouri. I had one that used to like our swing set. I called it Jerry Cotton if I remember right. I have no idea how I came up with the name. This one isn't up there yet, but here's a link to purchase some of my photos to use for prints and digital wall paper just as an example. Frosty or Olaf?

Image
Frosty or Olaf? Was it Frosty or Olaf?  I'm trying to decide which one I made. I'm an adult, but I still enjoy building snowman.  I don't get to very often in this  part of the country.  Let me know in the comments if you think this was Frosty or Olaf. We live in town, but I don't have to go very far to get a bit of a woodsy photo.  We have an open field across the street.  Sometimes I have seen deer coming from there.  I saw two outside my window one evening not too long before Christmas 2020.  So unusual to see them. I would love to photograph them someday if I can see them in the day time.  This field also contains many other wild life.  It includes cardinals, bluejays, robins, and other birds as well as many squirrels.     Our lights were still up.  I got to get a picture of the lights on snow.  It was a week after Christmas, but we got our White Christmas a week later with this photo.  It was really a W...

Winter Wonderland

Image
Winter Wonderland We had some snow this last week.  Hopefully we will have more this week. I think I got some nice backyard bird images and other backyard images with the snow. The snow was so light and fluffy.  It was like cotton.  I could catch it  in my hand and blow it off.  Just like cotton from the cotton trees. It's so amazing to look at each individual snowflake.  We don't always get snowflakes like this.  So, I tried to do some micro photography.  However, I'm very new to it.  So, I hope we get more snow on Thursday that is like what this was.  This photo is actually my hand with a very warm coat I received from my aunt.
